My must have Supplements!

Life Changing vitamins and supplements that I love!

· health supplements

So I thought I would share with you all the supplements I take on a regular basis! It has taken me quite some time to figure out what brands work best for me and won't break the bank! These supplements have helped me with hormonal issues and also help with my anxiety and depression! As many of you might know I was on medications for cystic ovaries ( I was put on the pill at a very young age for my cysts, if you ever have had an ovarian cyst you know how painful they are!) and for anxiety/depression. I decided once and for all to get all the unnatural chemicals out of my body a few years ago so I could get down to the root issue, and for me that was my hormonal imbalance and a wonky thyroid! I did accupuncture and saw an herbalist who really helped me! If you are local send me an email and I will give you her information! Also I can fully say that my cysts are gone on my ovaries, my pms is much better..... in fact almost non existent (my husbands very thankful for this...lmao) and I rarely have cramps! My anxiety and depression is under control! I have anxiety still on occasion and I obviously still get sad..... I am human, But I do not struggle with depression anymore, its under control and I think it all had to do with getting my hormones in check! I also want to say that there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with taking prescription drugs and some people may need to be on them forever! And that is OKAY! In fact, I firmly believe that I may not be here today to write this to you all if it wasn't for antidepressants, so for that I am VERY thankful! Looking back at those times It wasn't the same Kristyn thats sitting here writing this to you. I WAS STRUGGLING. Not just sad, but depressed. There is a huge difference between sad and depressed! But guess what........We have the old Kristyn back y'all!!! The quick witted, upbeat, silly girl that God made me to be! So if you are out there reading this struggling with mental illness and don't see any way out I am living proof that better days are ahead! I never thought I would get my life back that my battle with depression stole. I saw no way out. When people would tell me I would get better I literally thought they were dumb or lying and just simply didn't understand and if I was back in that state of mind and was currently reading this I would have thought "oh this person just doesn't get it, they don't understand it, and there is no hope! ( Depression makes you think very negatively and when your going through it at the time it feels like your trying to dig yourself out of a never ending hole... I know, I've been there!) and wow I cant believe I'm about to say what I saw people always saying and never believed.... but I AM LIVING PROOF that things can and will get better! Don't give up we all have something to give to this world and I promise if you keep hanging on and fighting you will get better and find yourself again. I'm not saying it's easy because it's not and took me awhile to get everything under control but if you are here reading this DON"T let Depression win! I almost did.... and I am So grateful I didn't. I have an amazing husband who has truly been a knight in shining armor through my pain! (I have no idea why he stayed with me during my most toxic time that I went through but I am so grateful he did! If your reading this Colin, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! You truly are everything and thanks for never giving up on me! ) I have an amazing family that I love so much and I have six amazing nieces and nephews whom I adore, and a sweet dog who watches over me from heaven! Life is amazing and If your struggling and need someone to talk to please reach out and tell someone, (you can even email or message me) go to your doctor and get treatment! You can do this! With that being said never get off your prescription drugs without speaking to your doctor first and always check with your doctor before adding any supplements into your diet! I am not a doctor.... this is strictly what has worked personally for me through trial and error. Also, some of these supplements are amazing for skin, hair, and nail health! YESSS PLEASE! Alright enough with the sappy stuff... lets get into this!

Evening primrose oil has seriously changed my life! Not only is it great for your skin (it contains GLA which is thought to clear up acne) but it also can help with eczema and skin elasticity. But those are just added benefits... because y'all this has literally changed my life when it comes to pms, cramps, breast tenderness, moodiness, anger and sadness that comes with your period. I actually sometimes take two pills before I start my period or ovulate and I swear this has changed my life! I like this brand because its cold pressed, its a good price and it works! Also evening primrose oil is great for people going through menopause! It can reduce hot flashes, help with nerve pain, blood pressure and even heart health.

The next supplement I want to talk about is Damiana root, my sister got me hooked on this when she told me her friend told her to take it for bloating. We can all use help in that department on occasion. But I started feeling great mentally after taking this so I started doing more research. This is commonly used as an aphrodisiac but I feel like all of the other great benefits of damiana are hardly ever talked about! It can help with hormonal issues as well as depression, digestion, pms symptoms, headaches, fungal infections, diabetes, weight loss, anemia, skin disorders and stress reduction. It's a great supplement for men and women!

The next thing I want to touch on is magnesium so many people are deficient in magnesium and that can cause depression and anxiety, I personally think everyone should supplement with this! It also helps constipation! I have tried many forms but my favorite is the magnesium calm that you stir in your drink! This also can help with pms, migraines, anxiety, better sleep, more energy and bone health.

Mood support contains ALL of the good stuff for anxiety and depression and reducing cortisol levels! I was over buying each herb I needed and this pill packed them all into one! I was so happy when I found this! I had very high cortisol levels when I was getting all of my hormones and thyroid checked, my doctor thought I had Cushing's syndrome... I don't thankfully. (cortisol is a stress hormone that can make you sad and contributes to weight gain around your tummy) this particular supplement contains st. johns wort so be careful taking this if you are on birth control or antidepressants because it can affect the medication...like I said always talk to your physician before taking any herbs or vitamins. I also like HPA adapt it doesn't contain St, johns wort and is a tad more expensive so I go back and forth between the two. Super cortisol Support is also great to reduce cortisol levels and support adrenal health. I kinda bounce between these three and I'm not sure which is my fave quite yet, But I do know I can tell a difference when I don't take these.

Vitamin D, So many people are lacking vitamin D and have no idea. It can really put a damper on you if you are deficient in this vitamin. If you are like me and get sad when it gets dark outside earlier (winter blues) you may be deficient! Vitamin D has many health benefits but really can help your mental health! I love the sublingual drops with vitamin K because it helps your body to absorb it better!

Methyl Folate is basically the most active form of folic acid that is thought to be better absorbed. As many of you know folic acid is the most common ingredient in prenatal vitamins because it is thought to help prevent birth defects. Most of us get en0ugh folic acid in our diets but if you do not it can make you weak, irritable, fatigued and short of breath. Folic acid also thought to prevent cancer. I make my husband take this as well.

Turmeric is great for inflammation. I sometimes take a few of these instead of advil and I swear it helps with headaches but maybe its a placebo effect..... But it helps me to take less advil so thats a win. Turmeric is great for pain relief and is also thought to reduce your risk of cancer as well as possibly improve liver function. It's great for digestion and linked to improved brain function and may be useful in preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease. Its said to help arthritis and fight against depression. It may even help delay aging and we love that! I also make my husband take this.

Collagen, If you haven't been bombarded with advertisements claiming collagen can help gut health, skin health, and possibly reduce cellulite then you probably have been living under a rock. I am all about preventative measures in aging, but stirring the scoop in my coffee every morning was getting annoying since sometimes it doesn't fully dissolve. Also I have been trying to switch to green tea in the mornings instead of coffee and I don't like how it tastes in my tea, I have tried a few different brands.( I linked my favorite powder form below) So I switched to the pill form. I like these but the pills are rather large, so if you have a problem swallowing large pills I would not recommend these. I still use the powdered collagen in my smoothies, but in pill form I can ensure my husband and I both get our daily dose. The brand I likes serving suggestion is to take 6 a day! But I swear I have noticed a difference in my skin, I have no idea if its from this or not, but whatever it is I'm not complaining.

Below I have linked all the brands I use as well as some other supplements and health items I enjoy! I also linked the weekly pill organizer you've probably seen at your grandmas. I love these ones because they are HUGE, and can fit all my supplements without trying to jam it shut! This also makes it much easier to remember to take, and now my husband has no excuse to not take his vitamins! =]
